Our Aim

We are committed to provide a safe and friendly environment in which children aged 2 to 5 can develop in confidence and ability to achieve their full potential. Our caring professional staff provide a structured programme of “Learning through play” working within the revised Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

A Bright Future
Since 2008 Dunkery Pre-School has been lucky enough to be based in its own purpose built room within Cutcombe First School. Our close partnership with the school is a positive influence on our children allowing a smooth transition from pre-school to school. This allows us to offer you and your child 15 hours per week allowed by the Early Years Entitlement funding. Within the setting the children have access to a wide range of play facilities which cover the seven areas of development, Personal and Social, Communication and Language, Physical, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design. We have two fun and secure outdoor areas, Garden, Swimming Pool and some superb IT technology. The Mobile Library also visits us. The layout of the room enables the children to make their own choices; we also use visual choices books for those who find speech difficult. We have space for children’s work to be displayed, also for information for Parents. Children are encouraged to use the Toilet and wash their hands independently.

This year we had a new purpose built canopy to cover the yard adjoining the room. This will encourage all weather, free flow play for the children to enjoy! Recently brightened up by some of our artistically brilliant parents, the children love it.

What we offer

Dunkery Pre-School offers a safe, friendly and stimulating environment. We work closely with parents/carers to ensure that they are fully informed of their child’s progress, through daily discussions, termly written reports and parents meetings. We also provide a “Key Person System” where by each child receives individual care and attention.

Our staff are highly experienced and hold the relevant qualifications for Early Years Childcare. They also attend regular training days throughout the year and hold Paediatric First Aid certificates.

We were rated 'Good' by Ofsted in October 2014.
